Business CTEC (1 A Level Equivalent)

Curriculum Leader: Mr R Rhodes

Course Content
Students complete units of work covering a range of topics, including (but not confined to): ownership, resources, finance, technology, marketing and research. In the second year, students will focus on their financial knowledge, creating business accounts for a business including profit and loss, balance sheet and ratios. They will also investigate online commerce – and the course is rounded off when students apply all the knowledge they have accumulated to create a business plan of their own.

Why Study Business?
BTEC Business is designed to enhance the enjoyment, understanding and appreciation of business and its role in daily life. The assignments allow you to apply knowledge to real businesses. The course also allows students to develop a business concept from the initial planning and research stage to producing documentation to support set up.

Assessment
Assessment will be a mixture of controlled assessment, examination and internally marked coursework.

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above. Students must have achieved grade 5 or above in Maths and a 5 in English.

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
