PSHE

At Accord Sixth, we will equip students with knowledge and understanding to allow you to be happy, healthy and live a fulfilling life. You will learn the importance of enjoying stable, strong, positive relationships with friends, family and members of the community. You will be able to evaluate risk and make informed choices about how to navigate through the challenges and opportunities life presents.

We promote respect and tolerance, and you will learn about the diverse world around you, be introduced to a wide range of concepts and be exposed to a variety of experiences. This will imbue in you the sense that you can participate and associate in any educational, professional or social opportunity you desire.

Our intent is to support you to be the best version of yourself so you can play a decisive role in changing our world for the better. The core intent of the PSHE curriculum is to give you the guidance, skills and powerful knowledge you need to help develop healthy, nurturing relationships in your life.

Alongside developing the skills necessary to form and maintain positive relationships, we are driven to ensure that all our students, regardless of background, can have confidence and see the value in themselves so they are inspired to achieve their full potential.

We firmly believe that a meaningful curriculum is key for all students to become confident, tolerant, and well-rounded adults. By demonstrating acts of kindness to yourselves and to others, you will help change our world for the better.

In your PSHE lessons, you will be encouraged to set yourself challenging and achievable goals. Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation. It will help you focus on your daily actions, transform your habits and mindset, help organise your time and increase your motivation. At Accord Sixth, we want you to have high aspirations, believe in yourselves and realise that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
