Financial Support
16-19 Bursary Award
A 16-19 Bursary fund is available to provide support to those students facing the greatest financial barriers and to enable them to continue with their education. The 16-19 Bursary is available for qualifying students (including those who are still in full time education on their 19th birthday). The 16-19 Bursary is awarded on a bespoke basis and based on need. Each student will receive allocation or contribution relevant to their personal circumstance and will likely be a different allocation to that of their peers.
There are two types of Bursaries: Vulnerable and Discretionary.
Vulnerable Bursary
This is paid to students (Vulnerable Learners) who are in full time education and include those in care, care leavers, in receipt of income support or disabled young people in receipt of both ESA and DLA. The Vulnerable Bursary is for £1,200 per student and is paid every 2 months, in arrears, by BACS payments.
Discretionary Bursary:
The Discretionary Bursary is intended for students who are in most need of financial support and the eligibility criteria aims to reflect this. This is defined as students in receipt of Free School Meals or Parents or Guardians in receipt of one or more of the benefits outlined below:
- Annual Salary – P60 for the tax year 5th April 2022 showing earnings of less than £22,000.
