Careers Support

Careers Support

Careers Information, Advice and Guidance is integral part of everything we do at Accord Sixth Form College. All students can access a one to one career’s appointment to support them to make informed decision about their future, after they have completed their studies with us. Our students progress on to a variety of different opportunities when they leave us including Russell group universities, degree and general apprenticeships and employment and as result we have a high success rate in supporting students into these positive destinations.

Each year we hold our annual HE Fair where we have attendance from over 30 Universities providing advice and guidance to students and parents on Higher Education. As part of the evening students and parents are also given a talk explaining the UCAS applications system and everything they need to know about student finance. All students also attend the annual UCAS Fair at Leeds Becketts University to help them with their career decision making process, so they can find out about information from all the HE and University providers in the UK as well as some from abroad. We also carry out bespoke trips to universities depending on students’ interest and support them to attend open days and taster sessions.

In addition to supporting students with university applications we also run apprenticeship and employment workshops to support those students wishing to progress in to these destinations.  We have a representation from a large number of employers coming into the college to promote employment-opportunities, supporting students with mock interviews and assessment days where applicable. Many of our student’s secure opportunities as result of attending these workshops.

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
