We offer a variety of different pathways to suit everyone’s needs. All students must complete a programme of study which is equivalent to 600 guided learning hours and includes, as a minimum, the equivalent of three A Level subjects. However, there are a huge number of ways we can tailor and tweak these study programmes to ensure every student at Accord Sixth Form College has a bespoke learning journey which is right for them.
Below you’ll find information about the different kinds of qualifications that we offer, as well as the full range of courses we provide.
What is an A Level?
An A Level is a two-year subject-based qualification designed to provide a specialised and rigorous academic path for students, often preparing them for higher education. They are usually assessed through examinations at the end of the course.
What is a CTEC?
The Cambridge Technical is a vocational qualification which provides specialist, work-related training. It is the equivalent of two A Levels in terms of UCAS tariff points. A CTEC is designed to lead to further study or direct employment.
What is a BTEC?
A Business and Technology Education Council is a practical, vocational qualification. BTECs can be offered at various levels – for instance, they can be the equivalent of one, two or three A Levels. BTECs combine subject theory with practical experience and are often assessed through coursework, projects and real-life scenarios.
What should I study?
It’s entirely up to you, what interests you and what you might want to do in the future! It’s important that you feel passionate about and interested in your subjects, and that they can help you move forward on a pathway towards the career, employment or further study that you want to pursue.
We do have different grade requirements for each subject, so check the relevant course page to see our entry requirements.
